Fearless comic Don Rickles dead at age of 90
The legendary comedian Don Rickles – the king of insults – died this morning from kidney failure. The man dubbed ‘Mr. Warmth’ would have turned 91 on May 8.
Rickles is best known for his regular visits to late-night shows where he would take no prisoners and toss out barbs left and right, He was fearless! Rickles is survived by his wife of 52 years, a daughter, and two grandchildren.
Rickles was still touring up until close to his death. In a 2014 interview, he dismissed thoughts of retiring, saying: “I’m in good health. I’m working better than I ever have. The audiences are great. Why should I retire? I’m like a fighter. The bell rings and you come out and fight. My energy comes alive. And I still enjoy it.’
