Experiencing beautiful romantic drama “Before We Forget” and Q&A with filmmaker Juan Pablo Di Pace

Congratulations to actor and filmmaker Juan Pablo Di Pace on his beautiful romantic drama Before We Forget.
We saw the movie last night at Laemmle NoHo 7 where it is playing until Thursday before it begins an engagement in Palm Springs. See it on the big screen while you can!
Any gay person who developed deep, romantic feelings for a classmate that you couldn’t dare act upon will be riveted by the movie and its first-rate acting and writing. It makes you look back and it makes you FEEL.
Co-director and co-writer DiPace (who stars as the adult version of the central character, Matias), did a Q&A with Dennis Hensley after the 7:20 pm showing and it was the kind of experience that makes us miss Outfest and eagerly await its return.
Also present was one of the film’s remarkable young stars, Oscar Morgan, and casting director Amanda Lenker Doyle. All were open and candid about the filming experience. Such a rich evening around a poignant film that should be widely seen.
There’s a crying scene involving Santiago Madrussan (young Matias) that is so heartbreakingly beautiful and real that I felt my first love pain all over again. Talk about unspoken emotions. I’m still wiping away my tears.
A first-rate cast all around and an unforgettable film going experience.
(BTW, the late, great Norman Lear is an executive producer and this is believe to be the last movie he saw in a movie theater)
