Elton John’s single “Looking Up” becomes his 71st song in Billboard Adult Contemporary chart top 20
Sorry Barbra Streisand, looks like you’ll never catch Elton John now.
The Rocket Man’s new single, Looking Up, debuted at number 20 this week on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart – his highest-ranking debut on the closely-watched industry sales chart in 30 years.
This marks the 71st song Elton has had on the chart, extending a record he already held for the most songs to make the chart in its 54 year history. His first was Your Song in 1970.
Streisand, 73, ranks second with 64 Adult Contemporary hits followed by Neil Diamond (58), Elvis Presley (53), Barry Manilow (50), Johnny Mathis (50), Kenny Rogers (49), Frank Sinatra (48), Herb Alpert/Tijuana Brass (46) and Dionne Warwick (45).
Looking Up is the lead single from Elton’s new album Wonderful Crazy Night out next month.
