Elton John’s miserable night at Golden Globes
It all started with a truly offensive joke by Ricky Gervais’ about Jodie Foster and The Beaver.
Elton John was so clearly not amused.
Then, he loses the best original song from a motion picture to, of all people, Madonna!
Elton clearly did not rehearse his polite losers face. He looked as if he wanted to leap onto the stage and pry the award out of her hand!
Then Gervais made it all worse awhile later when he introduced Madonna as a presenter but before saying her name he said the next presenter is “the queen of pop. … Not YOU Elton!”
Elton appeared to give a courtesy laugh.
But finally, we got a smile out of Elton when Cecil B. Demille Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Morgan Freeman was giving his acceptance speech and, out of the blue, said hello to Elton.
Finally, the Rocket Man smiled for real.
Update: Backstage, Madonna was asked how it feels to beat Elton John.
Her answer: “I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years. He’s been known to not speak to me. He’ll win for another award. I don’t feel bad.”

How about that SOUR FACED women next to Martin Scorcsee (sp). I guess it was his wife. I was soooo glad when they finally stopped showing that table. Talk about downer…she was the worst!

Yes Greg, up close Elton appeared to be on the verge of tears so I am glad Morgan could cheer him up. He sat center front at the Speilberg table with Harrison and Calista. Seems Ricky didn’t know when to lay off.

Ok, really, celebrities and artists are more thicker skinned then that, especially the very tough Elton. He is very famous for his sharp tongue, and I bet that when asked he will not be offended, maybe unamused, but not offended. Jokes about the people in the ballroom last night will not hurt their careers, their lives will go on and people can make fun of them, the gods will not strike Ricky down for daring to insult a celebrity. The “queen of pop” joke was funny and I’m an out and proud gay man!
