Elton John to sing at Andy Roddick’s wedding

Andy Roddick may not be the number one player in the world anymore, but he’s still a tennis superstar with superstar friends – including one named Elton John. People.com is reporting that the singing legend will not only be at Andy’s wedding this weekend to Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker, but he will also be performing.

Can you imagine your first dance as a couple and having Elton serenade you with something like Can You Feel the Love Tonight?

It’s not as unlikely a friendship as it may seem. Elton is a tennis fanatic from way back and one of his best and oldest friends is Billie Jean King. Elton and BJK hold an annual “Smash Hits” event each year to raise money for AIDS charities and Andy participates each and every year. I attended the event in Irvine 3-4 years ago and got to watch them play doubles together a bit and interact at the pre-match events. It was a very nice rapport to see.

The two years ago, Elton performed at the Andy Roddick Foundation’s Charity Gala.I love celebrities who use their fame for a good cause and do so consistently as Andy and Elton do.

Anyway, the charismatic and sexy Andy is a heartthrob to a lot of girls and a lot of gay guys. But now that he’s about to officially be off the market, I wish him all the happiness in the world. Among the other guests at the wedding will be retired superstar couple Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, as well as American players Marty Fish and James Blake. A small ceremony, to be held at Roddick’s Austin, Texas home with the wedding banquet at a nearby country club.

Love has been good for Andy’s game. America’s top player, who won the US Open in 2003, has been extremely competitive on the men’s tennis tour on 2009 with a 23-5 match record and a world ranking of sixth.
