Elton John is performing a FREE concert at noon today on the Sunset Strip – site of the old Tower Records!

The Rocket Man made the announcement on his Twitter account last night and again this morning.

OMG, it’s almost like Diana Ross in Central Park in 1983 – only it is certain not to rain.

It took Elton John a lifetime to get here and he’s not going anywhere!

The idea came from Elton’s hubby, David Furnish who thought this would be a great idea the day before Elton’s annual Oscar party to raise money for his AIDS foundation as a way of thanking the city of West Hollywood.
