Elliot Page to be honored by Outfest!
Academy Award-nominated actor, Elliot Page will be presented with the Oufest Achievement Award at the Outfest Los Angeles 2021 Closing Night Gala being held Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
The prestigious Outfest Achievement Award, honors the efforts of an individual who has made a significant contribution to LGBTQIA+ stories, arts and media visibility .
“His courage, advocacy and personal journey have made him one of the most admired and respected public figures of his generation and his talent and voice are leading a new generation within the LGBTQIA+ and entertainment community,” says Outfest Executive Director Damien Navarro.
Page, whose films include Juno, Inception, Hard Candy, Freeheld, and the X-Men films, tells The Hollywood Reporter: “Now more than ever, it is so important for our voices to be amplified and represented in film and media, and for people to hear our stories.”
Page came out as transgender in December 2020. In March 2021, Page became the first openly trans man to appear on the cover of Time magazine.
