Ellen quells break-up rumors with Portia in heartfelt interview: “I love her so much it kills me”

Ellen DeGeneres knows all about those tabloid rumors that she and wife Portia de Rossi are breaking up.

Even fellow celebrities are wondering.

Gayle King ran into a friend of the couple at an Oprah Winfrey party and said she heard break-up rumors while Nigel Lythgoe went so far as to text DeGeneres and say: ‘I hope the rumors aren’t true.’

They are not, Ellen says in a deeply-personal cover story in People Magazine this week.

‘The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time … She’s so funny, really smart, talented and kind.’

‘I love her so much it kills me.’

The couple were married in September 2008 after more than two years together.

‘What amazes me is that it is never boring,’ said Ellen who will host the Academy Awards on March 2.

‘I make her laugh but she really makes me laugh. It’s what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We’re really lucky because we know how rare that it.’

Such heartfelt words ought to put those break-up rumors to rest – at least for now!
