Ellen DeGeneres uses her daytime show to defend her qualifications to be an “American Idol” judge
People griping about Ellen DeGeneres not being qualified to be a judge on American Idol need to get a grip. Ellen is already more qualified than former judge Paula Abdul in a very important way: she can speak in complete sentences.
Sorry Paula fans, but it’s true!
Anyway, Ellen defended her qualifications on her daytime show Tuesday: “Apparently, there’s a lot of debate going on right now, whether I’m qualified or not to be the new judge on ‘American Idol’… I’ll tell you right now, how I know I’m going to be a great judge — because I’ve spent my whole life being judged. So, I know what it’s like. So, I will be kind. I will be compassionate. I will be empathetic, and I will be truthful. I will be an honest judge without being mean.”
“I’m very excited to be on the show. I will tell you that right now,” she added. “I just continue to be excited every single day. I knew people would have opinions, and I did not want to know what they were because why should I take that stuff in? I try not to watch anything that I think is going to be talking about me….”

Like the president the whole argument against her is based on passive / aggressive hate groups just trying to make hay. They need to get a grip and get over themselves. Ellen just needs to shine them on and simply say, “my qualifications are not going to be open for discussion”. Then simply get on with the business at hand. We don’t tune into the ED show to hear or see that crap spewed by the RR and others. The whole thing in my humble opinion is a waste of her precious time and energy. So please Ellen D. just ignore them they are somebody who cannot be pleased in any way shape of form.

I love Ellen, and I know she may have been offered a lot of money and also that she can and surely will be very sensitive and respectful woman when judging contestants…. That said, I guess if you are going to be tested on a Math exam, you need a Math teacher or a mathematician to be fair. Being a “judge” is not the same as being a critic or having an opinion. Is allowing someone to make a judgment in the assumption that that person is well over the average person to perform that duty because of its particular knowledge and impartiality. So, IMHO, this could –could- be bad press for her. Even if it is just a reality show, where things are not exactly THAT serious. Hope she can reverse that possibility being extra cute and nice.
