Eden Riegel talks to TV Guide
With all the unprecedented same-sex action happening on daytime, it is a pity that Bianca Montgomery, the lesbian daughter of town diva Erica Cane on All My Children, is not a part of it.
The actress who plays her, Eden Riegel, talked to TV Guide about Bianca’s departure and about other projects she is involved in including the web series Bitches which has been nominated for an Emmy Award. She also has a role in the current feature film Year One. Here are some excerpts from her interview with Michael Logan:
Logan: They really skewered and roasted AMC head writer Chuck Pratt for that interview he gave me in TV Guide Magazine—the one where he blamed the Reese-Bianca storyline mess on you for leaving the soap earlier than expected.
Riegel: I know. The Bianca fans really took that to the nth degree. They are so protective. Everything happened so fast [with the AMC story] that there wasn’t time to really build to the idea that Reese would make out with Zach the night before the wedding. A lot of people found that unforgivable. It was the first gay wedding. People wanted it to be pure. She was making out with Bianca’s brother-in-law!
Q. Whose sperm Bianca used to make a baby and didn’t tell her sister, Kendall, who happened to be Zach’s wife! Let’s face facts: Bianca was no saint in that situation, either.
A. And then, during the wedding, Greenlee died a horrible death. [Laughs] Oh, the whole thing was a disaster.

Q. I haven’t seen “Year One” yet but I’ve heard there’s a scene where you bare your boobage? What on Earth did your mother say?
A. No, it’s not true! Here’s what happened: I was twittering from the premiere and I’m completely in love with Michael Cera so I told people they should do themselves a favor and see the movie for him alone, and also for a great boob shot of me. But I didn’t realize people would think I’d actually gone topless! I clarified it the next day. It’s not topless. It’s a quality cleavage shot.
Q. You play the daughter of Adam and Eve. Eden in Eden—I love this!
A. Jack Black thinks he’s going to get lucky with me and then he finds out I’m a lesbian but he does not understand what that means. When I explain it to him he loves the idea. He thinks it’s the greatest thing ever! It’s a very funny scene. I guess I disappointed a few people. You know, with only 140 characters it’s very hard to be specific and tweet about body parts. I should have said “Cleavage but no nipple.”
You’re not concerned about getting typecast?
Are you kidding? I was very proud to do “Year One.” Besides, I owe it to all the Bianca fans who have been so loyal and supportive. How could I turn down a chance to play the world’s first lesbian?
