DVD News: Season 2 of “Designing Women” out today!

It may just be a run-of-the-mill Tuesday for you but for me, it may as well be Christmas: season two of Designing Women is out today!
I think the adventures of Julia Sugarbaker (Dixie Carter), Suzanne Sugarbaker (Delta Burke), Mary Jo Shively (Annie Potts) and Charlene Frasier (Jean Smart) got even better as the series went on because the four actresses jelled together so well. The show really hits its peak in seasons three and four burt there is plenty to enjoy from this second season collection.
My favorite episodes on the DVD include some classics such as: Dash Goth, the writer which introduced Gerald McRaney as one of Suzanne’s ex-husbands; Reservations for Eight in which the four women and their men get trapped in a snowstorm during a ski vacation and have a battle of the sexes debate for the agers; and Killing All the Right People, an episode that dealt movingly with AIDS while the epidemic was still a death sentence.

Though the sight of McRaney dressed in all-black with tons of eyeliner and black nail polish would be intriguing …
