“DTLA” starring Darryl Stephens, Leslie Jordan, William McNamara, Danny Roberts and others seeks funding
Check out this video and try and tell me you don’t want to see more.
I so want to see more!
This is DTLA, a a self-financed, gay scripted drama series, best described as a cross between Queer As Folk and Swingers.
The cast has some terrific people in it starting with Darryl Stephens who we know best from his playing the title role on Noah’s Arc. I cannot wait to see the scene pictured above of Darryl kissing Danny Roberts who you may recognize from his time on The Real World: New Orleans.
Then there is the still dreamy William McNamara who so many of us fell in love with when he played a gay college student in the memorable TV movie Doing Time on Maple Drive. He plays a straight guy in this series but we won’t hold it against him!
And finally, we have Emmy winner Leslie Jordan who looks like a hoot in this footage.
Other cast members include newcomer Matthew Stephen Herrick, Erin Daniels of The L Word, Tiffany Pollard of VH1’s I Love New York, TV/Radio personality B. Scott, Luenell of Borat, and the brilliant Julie Goldman of The Big Gay Sketch Show.
Six 30 minute episodes have been produced, and producers are seeking funds to complete post-production and a few pick-ups on the series in order to deliver it to OutTV for an April 2012 premiere.
They are trying to raise at least #25,ooo through a Kickstarter Campaign by Feb. 22. As of last night, just under $2,500 has been raised.
“Given that it has been seven years since Queer as Folk, we are eager to put our voices back in the world and give the next generation an opportunity to see themselves reflected in our characters and stories,” the producers said.

I love Daryl Stephens – he looks hotter with this hair. Fell for Billy McNamara in the under-the-Hollywood-radar, “Beggars & Choosers”; is he FOD? Could’ve had a big one with Malcolm Lafley aka Tuc Watkins! Hook me up for a role on this one, it looks like mad fun – hire me! Cheers, Mark

Hope Logo pics it up as I do not subscribe to Showtime.

Seems Showtime has deep pockets thus attracting big name actors as well what seems to be big budget productions, shows currently shown on Logo tv channel seem low budget first and tend not to be the first run or may be even considered ‘B’ class shows. At times ‘struggling’ Del Shores by example has frequently sought public support yet attracts major stars with a less than big budget – which has proven to be difficult by example, Sordid Lives tv series. Create the better quality shows and the viewers will come.

OMG, this is something that I have been waiting to see. Looks like a great cast. Showtime would be an awesome location for this project since there isn’t anything out there right now like it. Showtime has the money and the space for a show like this after-all they are showing the weak show Gigolos which I think is stupid. I like Darryl Stephens and Tiffany Pollard. Leslie, one of my favorites! Looks like the hot model Ernest Pierce is in it. I remember seeing him in Glee and Homewrecker…This is gonna be a HOT show..Cannot wait!
