Both Dolly Parton and Julie Andrews are to receive 2011 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards

The crush of the holidays caused this to slip by me last week: It’s been announced that Dolly Parton and Julie Andrews will be among the select group honored at the 2011 Grammy Awards on Feb. 13 as Lifetime Achievement Award honorees.

Miss Parton is already a seven-time Grammy winner and remains one of the biggest stars in country music. Her most recent album was 2008’s Backwards Barbie and her classic hits include Jolene, Coat of Many Colors, I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again, Islands of the Stream and, of course, 9 to 5.

Miss Andrews, whose husband Blake Edwards died earlier this month, has won an Academy Award, two Emmys and been named a Dame of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. She starred in the classic screen musicals The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and Victor/Victoria.

Both women are still going strong after more than four decades of stardom.

Also being honored at the Grammys will be Roy Haynes, Julliard String Quartet, Ramones, The Kingston Trio and George Beverly Shea.
