Did “Arrow” and “Teen Wolf” star Colton Haynes just become first star to come out publicly in 2016?
I sure hope so because it is always wonderful when people – famous or not – stop being vague and become open about who they are.
(Note: Any comments of the “I already knew that,” “Everybody knows” and the sarcastic “That’s news?” variety will be deleted – they irritate me)
On Colton Haynes’ official blog on Tumbler, the Arrow and Teen Wolf alum posted this question from somebody: “when I found out colton haynes had a secret gay past i got so excited even though i know it makes absolutely no difference in my life.’
Colton, 27, responded this way: ‘Was it a secret? Let’s all just enjoy life & have no regrets :)’
Good for him!
Of course everyone knows that 10 years ago, pictures of Colton appeared in gay photo mag XY in some hot and shirtless makeout scenes with another guy.
Annoyingly, when the actor was about to debut in Teen Wolf on MTV, a man claiming to be his lawyer contacted several blogs and said they faced legal action if they do not remove the “private, obscene, lewd and pornographic photographs.”
They really weren’t that big a deal but I guess to an actor just starting to make it maybe they felt like a Vanessa Williams in Penthouse situation.
But because of that reaction, there had been some backlash against Colton by gays.
Hopefully he will embrace who he is more publicly moving forward and people will embrace him in return.

Gay or not, he could have just been referencing the photo spread as part of the “gay past”. Considering it was public newspaper, it wasn’t a secret. Gay or not, that’s his business.

It seems to me, his response is in reference to the previous photos of him.. saying they were not exactly hidden and not such a secret anymore. This isn’t the first time something was taken out of context. Since this ‘news’ is making the rounds, has he even commented on it yet? Until he specifically confirms he is gay and actualy says the words.. or goes appears on Ellen and says so….because we all know, she’s the go-to gal for coming out!

I think that in a more perfect world, no celebrity would comment on their private lives, but would unapologetically live their lives out in the open.
