Diana Ross has joined Twitter!
The great diva Diana Ross made an announcement on Wednesday: ‘I am on Twitter now and loving it.’
The Motown legend in her first 21 hours has gained 20,000 followers – not exactly Caitlyn Jenner numbers (1 million in four hours) but still pretty respectable for a 71-year-old superstar.
‘I love that popping sound when someone has just said hello -hello back,’ she tweeted this morning.
Ross’s contemporaries Bette Midler, Cher and Barbra Streisand have all been on Twitter for several years already with Cher particularly prolific with her tweets.
Ross, who came to fame as lead singer of The Supremes more than 50 years ago, has been a solo superstar since 1970 with such hits as Upside Down, I’m Coming Out, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Endless Love and Love Hangover.
Some of my other faves include Chain Reaction, The Boss, It’s My Turn, Touch Me in the Morning and Take Me Higher.
She is the mother of five children including actress Tracee Ellis Ross who stars in the hit ABC comedy Black-ish and previously starred in the long-running sitcom Girlfriends.
Her son, Evan Ross, is a singer and actor and his mom’s second tweet was a plug for him: Check out @realevanross new single “How to live alone” on iTunes http://smarturl.it/ERHTLA
