Diana Ross goes on with the show after car crash
Just found out that the Supreme Diana Ross went on with a concert in Pennsylvania Wednesday despite being involved in a car accident on her way to the show.
‘I was involved in a car accident yesterday, but I’m fine,’ the 72-year-old icon tweeted to fans earlier today. ‘I ask you not to worry. I will see you tonight at the show in Providence.’
Thank God!
Police tell USA Today that Ross was slightly injured when an SUV ran a stop sign and crashed into the limousine taking her to the show at the Sands casino complex in Bethlehem.
The 2012 Grammy Lifetime Award recipient complained of head and neck pain after the crash and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Ross, who has legions of gay fans around the world, has been a star for more than 50 years and is known for her ‘the show just go on’ attitude.
In 1983 she was giving a free charity concert in New York’s Central Park when a torrential rainstorm hit.
She remained on stage, getting drenched, and famously told the crowd: ‘It took me a lifetime to get here and I’m not going anywhere.’
She remained on stage until the crowd had exited the park safely and returned the next day to give a full performance.
Her hits as lead singer of The Supremes include Stop! In the Name of Love, Where Did Our Love Go, You Can’t Hurry Love and Baby Love. Plus I Hear A Symphony, Love Child, Reflections and Someday We’ll Be Together (I just love seeing how many hits I can think of off the top of my head).
As a solo artist, Ross has reached number one with Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Touch Me in the Morning, Theme From Mohogany, Love Hangover, Upside Down and Endless Love. Other top 10 solo hits include I’m Coming Out, It’s My Turn, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, Missing You, Muscles and Mirror, Mirror.
