The 67-year-old former leader of The Supremes was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Grammy on Saturday at a Special Merit Awards ceremony at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre.

Miss Ross was joined on stage by her five children and one grandchild, whom she named as her real achievements in life during her acceptance speech.

“Hallelujah!” she said. “It’s been such an incredible ride. I’m very happy, very excited. I look forward to the future — and going into the studio to make new music.”

Later Saturday, Miss Ross attended Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Attendee Jane Fonda writes on her blog: At the end of the evening, Diana Ross was celebrated for her Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. A group of people with a mic walked to where she was sitting and, singing Ain’t No Mountain High Enough along with her, walked her to the stage where she finished by singing it to Clive and then falling into his arms.

At tonight’s Grammys ceremony, Ross and other Lifetime Achievement Grammy recipients were only mentioned briefly except for Glen Campbell who performed.

But Miss Ross did appear near the end of the ceremony to present the Grammy for Album of the Year to Adele’s 21.

4 Remarks

  1. Diana Ross has had such an amazing career
I was happy to see her with a Grammy in her hand after all these years.
If you look at the list of who won Grammies against her, most of them are nowhere
To be found. Long live Diana. Queen of everything

    Jeff Kelling says:

we love, love, love Miss Diana Ross!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Out of my 50 Plus Years, Miss Ross was always Top Diva in my life. I have seen her many times all up and down the EAST Coast. She is good at entertaining. In fact that is what she does BEST..well maybe next to being a mother and a g-mother. She is Flawless! It’s always funny how they compare entertainers to entertainers..If you love music they all are good from Diana Ross, to Barbara, to Cher, to ReeRee, to Miss Glayds Knight! WONDERFUL ENTERTAINERS! I too Love and Appreciate Miss Diana Ross. My Brother sang reach out and touch with her on the mic( What At Treat!…GO ROSS!……..Marcia

  4. Ms. Ross has worked hard for her place in music history. No matter what “spin” people want to put on the reason for her success, I turn to the statements of collegues like Marvin Gaye, who had no axe to grind wit Ms. Ross, when he said Diane would work harder, out dress you, and out perform you so if one got on stage with her, that person better come with it (not a direct quote but close). Smokey Robinson said all the women at Motown were talented and they “thought” they had what Diana has, but they didn’t..Diana Ross has the chrisma to sellout venues around the world in a way that the other ladies could not. Let’s face it, Diana Ross deserves the recognition for her work, of which most are unaware—she has a huuuuuge catalogue that well covers almost every genre of music.
