Daytime Soap Clip: Officer Oliver Fish begins the difficult process of coming out to his parents

One Life to Live continues to handle the Officer Oliver Fish storyline superbly and I’m just thrilled with the writing. Oliver’s parents are in town early and as afraid as he is to come out to them, it is clear that he is no longer able to live a lie – to anyone.

We have to see how the parents react but I will say that Cristian and especially Layla have shown themselves to be true friends to this man who is struggling to come out. Layla has been especially forgiving and wise and I am glad to see that supportive friends included in this coming out process. Any gay person who comes out of the closet to their family knows that their friends are absolutely crucial at that time.

Kudos all around to this wonderful storytelling.

NOTE: Mrs. Fish is being played by Lisa Evans, the real-life mother of openly gay actor Scott Evans who plays Fish. I love it!
