David Burtka hired as correspondent for E! News

When I snapped this photo of David Burtka on the red carpet of the 2008 Emmy Awards, he had just told me he was going to school to become a chef.

Thankfully, the actor and partner of Neil Patrick Harris has decided to step back in front of the cameras as a correspondent for E! News.

NPH just tweeted the news and wrote: Congrats, DB!

Burtka, who performed with NPH at last night’s Trevor Live! benefit, will begin the new gig in January.

He recently appeared in Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas with Harris sending up their image as a high-profile gay couple. He has many theater and television credits including the 2003 Broadway production of Gypsy and guest spots on The West Wing, Crossing Jordan and How I Met Your Mother.
