Congratulations to newlywed Barney Frank!
Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank and Jim Ready were married in Newton, Mass. on Saturday in a low-key ceremony on the banks of the Charles River that lastred less than five minutes.
In 1987, Frank became the first sitting member of Congress to volunteer that he was gay and he is now the first to be married to a partner of the same sex.
In vows written by the couple, Frank and Ready pledged to love each other “on MSNBC or on Fox” and “in Congress or in retirement,” a reference to Frank’s decision not to seek another term.
According to The New York Times, the guests included Representative Nancy Pelosi, the House minority leader, as well as Senator John Kerry and Representatives Dennis J. Kucinich and Steny H. Hoyer.

My best to Barney and Jim. Wish them nothing but happiness. Seems almost a dream in a way. In the 90’s we couldn’t envision this. And now look at where we are. Marriage equality on the Federal lever here we come!
