Colton Haynes wants lots of kids

While accepting the Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award, Colton Haynes had a confession to make: he wants kids.

Lots of kids.

‘I have many hopes for the future and many ambitions as an actor and artist,’ he said last weekend at the HRC gala in Seattle. ‘And on a personal note, I have to confess that I also want to raise kids, maybe half a dozen.

‘But I don’t want to raise them alone. Lucky for all of us, with the historic achievement of marriage equality last year, none of us need to go through this world alone – or without the commitment of the person we truly love.’

But the 28-year-old actor is not in the position to start his family anytime soon.

Haynes is currently single and has been since coming out publicly as a gay man in May. By that time he had ended a six-year relationship with a man he does not name. The relationship ended when he discovered his ex was cheating on him.

He told Out Magazine earlier this month that he’s been burned by love and become quite shy and reclusive in the romance department.

‘I haven’t had sex in—I couldn’t tell you how long,’ he said. ‘I wish had more to tell you, but it just doesn’t happen.’

The HRC Visibility Award the first major award Haynes has received from an LGBT group. He is credited by HRC for inspiring ‘countless LGBTQ young people across the country and around the world to live their lives as their authentic selves.’

Haynes will appear in the second season of Fox’s Scream Queens.
