Clay Aiken slams current “American Idol” judges as boring: “I’ve watched root canals more entertaining”

Clay Aiken is not without opinions and on Wednesday night he expressed one of them.

He thinks American Idol judges Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban are a snooze.

Aiken, runner-up during season two of the show, took to Twitter to share his thoughts: ‘Watching @americanidol for the first time in a decade. You never know what you’ve got til it’s gone. Well… now I know why the ratings are down.’

The show began its fifteenth and final season this week. Once a rating juggernaut for FOX, Idol has declined in the ratings in recent years as NBC’s The Voice has grown in popularity.

But Aiken, who unsuccessfully ran for seat in the US Congress last year, places the blame on the current judges.

‘Oh good Lord… those boring ass responses from the judges!?’ Aiken tweeted. ‘Where is Simon when you need him!?’

He was referring to original judge Simon Cowell who left the show in 2010 and was known for his blunt and controversial comments about contestants.

‘It’s VERY clear now that @SimonCowell was the reason @AmericanIdol was a hit,’ Aiken also wrote. ‘I’ve watched root canals more entertaining than these judges.’
