Classy San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus wants fired man who ruined their performance at Padres game reinstated

The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus is willing to forgive and forget.
The group on Tuesday asked the San Diego Padres to reinstate the man who caused an embarrassing incident by playing the wrong soundtrack – featuring a woman’s voice – during their performance at a baseball game over the weekend.
‘ We … would like to publicly accept the sincere apology of DJ ARTFORM and recognize his support for the LGBT community and equality for all people,’ the group said in a statement.
‘We do not wish to see him lose his job with the San Diego Padres and kindly ask the Padres to reinstate him. Everyone deserves a second chance.’
The group also applauded the San Diego Padres organization and its chief executive Mike Dee for ‘its ongoing efforts to make something good come out of unfortunate recent events.’
‘We have been overwhelmed by the positive support from people around the world.’
The trouble began after members of the chorus had taken to the field at Petco Park on Saturday before the Padres game to sing the Star Spangled Banner.
The crowd soon heard the recorded voice of a woman singing the anthem instead of the chorus.
DJ ARTFORM, whose real name is Art Romero, said it was an honest mistake and there was no homophobia behind the incident.
He said he was emailed the chorus’ pre-recording of the song but when he hit ‘play’ the pre-recording for Friday night’s anthem was broadcast in the stadium by mistake.
The recording was not immediately stopped, nor was there a public statement to explain the mix-up.
‘My stomach was in knots,’ he Mighty 1090’s Scott and BR Show this week.
‘I should have intervened, I should have turned it down. There are a lot of coulda woulda shoulda’s.’
The video below shows members of the chorus leaving the field following the humiliating incident.

Despite the unfortunate audio debacle, in hindsight any media publicity is good publicity for San Diego’s GMC.

This is very cool. Class act to stand up for the guy.
