Classic Movie Wednesday: See a young John Travolta dazzle on the dance floor in “Saturday Night Fever”
One of the highlights of the TCM Classic Film Festival for me was the screening of Saturday Night Fever at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on, of course, Saturday night.
I saw it in the theaters way back in 1977 but was so young that most of it went over my head. But I was old enough to know that I had a crush on leading man John Travolta who earned an Oscar nomination for his performance.
It really is the greatest role of his career and he was never sexier or more appealing. The dancing is first-rate as is the acting. Here is Travolta’s big solo dance number as well as the last five minutes or so of the film when Travolta’s Tony Manero realizes he wants more out of his life than ruling the disco on Saturday night.
Enjoy!
