Classic Movie Wednesday kicks off with the fabulous Bette Davis in “All About Eve”
Greg In Hollywood is adding another theme day to the Lunch Break Video feature.
Joining I Love Lucy Friday, Showtune Sunday, Sex and the City Saturday and Mary Tyler Moore Monday is Classic Movie Wednesday!
The great Bette Davis was never better than in the classic 1950 film All About Eve.
The film was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won six including best picture and best director for Joseph L. Mankiewicz.
Miss Davis was nominated for – and should have won – an Oscar for her performance as Margo Channing, a highly regarded but aging Broadway star. Anne Baxter plays Eve Harrington, a willingly helpful young fan who insinuates herself into Channing’s life, ultimately threatening Channing’s career and her personal relationships.

Wonderful, of course.
But it seems so unfair that you posted this so soon after that “Eve” spoof from “The Carol Burnett Show.”
2201 East says:
When she did the above monologue, Bette Davis was sitting in a car in the middle of summer wearing that heavy mink coat in the company of an actress she didn’t care for. It’s amazing she did the whole thing without sweat pouring down her forehead.
