Christina Aguilera talks about Cher: “She’s handled everything in her life so gracefully but still with an ‘F you’ attitude.”

Q. Every gay man wants to know— what was it like working with Cher?
A. It’s an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. She’s Cher, and she was incredible to work with. She’s just a cool chick. I know that she rides motorcycles, and she comes in with a lot of her Chrome Hearts stuff and her decked-out, studded Ugg boots.
She’s really down-to-earth, and that’s what I appreciated the most about her. She definitely was there to give advice and help on-screen and off-screen.
We had a lot of ‘girl talk’ moments, about love and relationships and life. I saw a lot of myself in her, in the sense that I don’t get to meet very many people who have the ambition and the potential to stay in this business for a long time—and who better than Cher to sit down and speak with on a very real level about staying in the business and the sacrifices you have to make and the things that happen when you’re in the spotlight. She’s handled everything in her life so gracefully but still with an ‘F you’ attitude, underneath the grace and the style and elegance. I love everything she had to offer to me as some one still coming up in the business. She was just amazing.
Here’s my thought: It should be mentioned that in more than 45 years of stardom, Cher has never been involved in situations like this so hopefully Christina – the mother of a young child – will get a handle on this drinking in public.

To be fair, in 45 years of stardom, Cher never had to deal with the internet and the paparazzi that is today’s press. It seems like, if you want to be a public figure, you can’t step out of line from the moment of conception or someone will find out and run it in OK! Magazine, the Star or put it on the internet. When was it front page news that Cher was photographed drinking at a dive bar in West Hollywood in her twenties? No one would have cared and it would have been handled privately. But that was more than 25 years ago and the press is a different kind of voracious animal. The salacious stories that they feed us keeps an ever hungry public clamoring for the next great story of a “celebrity in crisis”.
