Chris Evans is People’s 2022 “Sexiest Man Alive”

I don’t always agree with People Magazine’s choices for their annual Sexiest Man Alive issue but hard to argue with this year’s selection: Chris Evans! Have loved him since I first laid eyes on him in 2004’s Cellular. Since then he’s starred in the Fantastic Four movies, Knives Out, Gifted, Snowpiercer, London, The Nanny Diaries, Street Kings, and The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond and other films. Then there his most famous role that has made him very rich and a superstar: Captain America. He’s headlined three films as the superhero as well as starring in four ensemble Avengers movies.

He remains busy as ever now that he’s left Captain America behind: This year alone, he starred in Pixar’s Lightyear, Netflix’s Gray Man and filmed three new movies, including 2023’s Ghosted for AppleTV+ which he is also producing, and also still co-runs A Starting Point, the civic engagement platform he launched in 2020.

“The most enjoyable aspect of my career right now is feeling secure enough to take my foot off the gas,” he says. “I feel like I have a bit more freedom to take time away from the industry and still find projects that will satisfy my creative appetite when I return.”

Love that he’s so close to his younger brother, openly gay actor Scott Evans, and the two have made some hilarious talk show appearances together.

Of the People honor, Evans says he’s bracing for playful harassment from his friends, but knows his mom will love it. “She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.”
