Cheyenne Jackson set to join Michael Douglas & Matt Damon in Liberace biopic “Behind the Candelabra”

Cheyenne Jackson, the openly gay actor who has conquered Broadway (Finian’s Rainbow, Damn Yankees, Xanadu), television (30 Rock, Glee) and recording (The Power of Two, Drive), is in talks to join the cast of a biopic about the late Liberace which is scheduled to begin shooting this summer.

It’s not yet known what role Jackson would play in the film, titled Behind the Candelabra, but he would join a high-profile cast that includes Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as Liberace’s lover Scott Thorson.

Also in the cast is Rob Lowe who plays a plastic surgeon and is negotiations to play another one of Liberace’s young lovers is Boyd Holbrook who recently appeared in the hit miniseries Hatfields & McCoys.

Well, we will have to see if the movie is any good. But one thing is for sure: the cast is very attractive!

The film is being directed by Oscar winner Stephen Soderbergh.

3 Remarks

  1. Last I had heard, this project was shelved. So glad to know that it will begin filming this summer. It should be a very interesting film, and I *adore* Matt Damon.

  2. Do Cheyenne and Robert Gant realize that they are my biological parents? I do have his genes and I like Liberace. Cheyenne may be a few years younger than me, but this will not matter in a court of law when it comes time to prove his paternity. I am certain Cheyenne is my biological father because his talents match Robert Gant’s and, thus, I was created.

(Note: my psychiatrist says I should be OK in a few years with the right medications.)

    Kojacque Tenfour says:

Shia LaBeouf is a dead ringer in appearance to the very young Liberace.
The only question is if Shia LaBeouf is up to such a very far stretch against character. But if he did manage to portray so sensitive yet very ingratiating a soul as Liberace, it would attract the attention of a young audiance even if only as a camio in a flashback sequence.
