Chaz Bono voted off DWTS: “I came on this show because I wanted to show America a different kind of man.”

ELIMINATED: In what was the sixth week of competition, Chaz Bono and partner Lacey Schwimmer were voted off of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.

The pair had performed a tango to music from Phantom of the Opera with Chaz in a Phantom mask.

The only child of Cher and the late Sonny Bono, who transitioned from the female Chastity to the make Chaz last year, had grown in confidence and charisma with each passing week – something host Tom Bergeron pointed out after his elimination.

Said Chaz: “This was an amazing journey. … I came on this show because I wanted to show America a different kind of man. If there was somebody like me on TV when I was growing up, my whole life would have been different.”

Chaz and his partner had been the lowest scorers this week with 19 points out of a possible 30. He had said earlier in the week that he wished the judges could offer him more constructive criticism.

“It’s a bit insulting. One judge in particular week after week paints me as this… I don’t know… chubby, cuddly little Ewok, little penguin. That’s not about my dancing,” Bono argued. “If you want to talk to me about my dancing and how I can improve, I have no problem with that. That would be fine!”

Six celebrities will return to dance on Monday: actor David Arquette,  reality TV personality Rob Kardashian, actor J.R. Martinez, soccer World Cup star Hope Solo, former talk show host Ricki Lake and TV host Nancy Grace.
