Charlie Hunnam drops out of “Fifty Shades of Grey” – what does this mean for Matt Bomer fans?

Charlie Hunnam has dropped out as the male lead of the film Fifty Shades of Grey.

I have a feeling this is going to give a lot of Matt Bomer fans new hope.

There’s been a movement to get Matt cast as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the best selling novel – even a Change.org petition of all things.

I love Mr. Bomer but a Change.org petition? C’mon!

Well, more than 87,000 people have signed it so you never know!

So when Hunnam got the role, that seemed to be that.

Only it isn’t.

It was announced this weekend that the Sons of Anarchy star has dropped out of the project which was supposed to start shooting in November.

The official line is that Hunnam’s Anarchy schedule prevented him from properly preparing for the role.

I think Hunnam is one of the sexiest actors around and have thought so since the first time I saw him on screen in the original Queer as Folk series in the UK.

As for Bomer, last month he told ETOnline: “I’m so grateful for the fans and touched. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota.”

Dakota is Dakota Johnson, the daughter of Melanie Griffin and Don Johnson and the granddaughter of Tippi Hedren.

It’s not known if Hunnam’s departure will impact Johnson’s casting.
