Chandler Massey wins the Emmy! He gives Greg In Hollywood a post-win interview!
It took Susan Lucci 19 tries before she finally won an Emmy.
Chandler Massey won on his second try.
The talented young actor who plays Will Horton on Days of Our Lives took home the Emmy tonight.
“I was shocked, I didn’t think I was going to win,” he told me after tonight’s ceremony at the Beverly Hilton. “I’m very humbled by this.”
I asked Chandler what it felt like when his name was called as the winner in the category of outstanding younger actor in a daytime drama.
“It was surreal,” he said. “When they called my name, I walked up to do the speech and felt like it was too good to be true.”
But it was true and Chandler’s work as Will Horton made him the first actor to win an Emmy for playing a gay character on a soap. Van Hansis, who played Luke Snyder on As the World Turns, was nominated several times but did not win.
“I’m just so grateful to the producers and the writers for being committed to this storyline,” Chandler said. “It’s a tribute to them and They are really the ones who made it all possible.”
He also paid tribute to his fellow cast members: “Everyone has been so amazing and a pleasure to work with.”
Chandler’s parents and grandfather flew in from Georgia to join him for the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and he is going to savor his win during a two week vacation with his family.
So what is he going to do with his Emmy?
“I’m going to sleep with this next to my pillow,” he said.

Greg. I really enjoy reading your articles when Chandler Massey is in them. I had watched the coverage of the Emmy Award show on Saturday evening. It was really a wonderful thing to see Chandler Massey accepting the Emmy he worked so hard to deserve it. Chandler has done a wonderful job in portraying his character in a way that we can relate to it. Especially having the support of his friends and family at his side. Chandler is a first class actor and I really enjoy seeing him in action on Days.
