Celebs pay tribute to Lauren Bacall …

Sam Harris via Facebook: “So so sad to hear that Lauren Bacall has died. I met her through Roddy McDowall and she instructed me to call her Betty.

“She came to Danny’s and my apartment in NY for a couple of big parties and several intimate dinner parties. She was grand and fabulous – an old fashioned star in every way. She once entered our foyer literally dragging a fur coat, saying, “I won’t stay long,” then parked herself on a sofa, held court for the night, and was the last to leave the party! She had great stories and knew everyone. She was direct, wry, arch, so funny, and yet sentimental with a big heart. I am honored and fortunate to have known her, and am so sad at her passing.’
