Celebrating Brittany Murphy’s life with scenes from her movies and an update on the status of her upcoming films

So shocking about Brittany Murphy, who died Sunday at the age of 32.

The actress had several films in the works. According to MTV News, here is the status of them:

** Abandoned: Before her passing, Murphy completed work on this psychological thriller in which she plays a woman with a history of psychiatric issues who accompanies her boyfriend (Dean Cain) to the hospital for surgery, only to have him disappear without a trace. post-production on the film is complete, and a nearly final edit is set to be completed this week or next.

** Something Wicked: In June, Murphy joined the cast of the  psychological thriller Something Wicked in the prominent role of a psychiatrist. She had completed shooting her scenes but it there may still have been some audio recording to do as the film is being edited.

** Shrinking Charlotte: Murphy was slated to play the title character in this romantic comedy about a woman who falls for her shrink. The production was supposed to begin filming in January. The film is now on hold as Executive Producer Michael Gordon decides whether or not to move forward with someone else in Brittany’s role.

** The Caller: Murphy was rumored to have been fired in November from this horror film co-staring Stephen Moyer (True Blood). Former Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre replaced her on the Puerto Rico set. Murphy’s publicist denied her client was fired, saying she and the production mutually parted ways.

Thankfully, Brittany had completed many films in her career and we will have those forever.

Of course you have to include Clueless because that is a classic and Brittany’s character transforms from nerdy to swan. I also loved her and Ashton Kutcher in Just Married – such terrific energy and chemistry for this pair who were also dating in real life for a time. My favorites are Uptown Girls with Dakota Fanning and especially Love and Other Disasters opposite Matthew Rhys.
