Yes you need to register to vote but its not enough to register – you have to vote for the right people! The country is being run by a sociopath who let 200,000 innocent people die on his watch in the past 6 months alone and that number is rising. We’ve had the worst response to the pandemic on the planet. Seriously. It’s not a joke. If there are Trump voters in your life, ignore them. Most at this point are a lost cause – the majority are white supremacists who’ve been willingly brainwashed by Fox News and false information on the internet. But you should talk to your FRIENDS who feel the same way that you do about the world and make sure they have a plan to vote! Vote early and vote in person if you can. 4 more years of this will be catastrophic. Healthcare, racial justice, a woman’s right to choose, climate change, LGBTQ rights – it’s all on the line. I love this picture and am re-upping BECAUSE (!) It’s #nationalvoterregistrationday … FUCK YES. Look, I can’t convince you to vote. I won’t shame you into registering if you haven’t because shame is such a shitty thing to carry around. But I will be voting, and I’m happy to tell you why. If you follow me, I think you can guess where I stand on certain issues. I don’t define myself by my politics or consider myself particularly authoritative or righteous on all things. I am impacted by politics, yes. But there are lots of people who are WAY more impacted by politics than I am: folks with disabilities and underlying conditions that need quality healthcare in an essential way that I can only empathize with. Kids who will inherit a world quickly shaped by rising temperatures and coastlines … I could go on. I vote in the interest of THESE people. Voting costs me almost nothing – very little time and maybe just a little bit of gas. Taking time out of my day for that is quite honestly a pleasure (and an honor). And hey, I’m paying taxes anyway. I am a voter. My friends are voters. We will check in about it and have a plan for the election. It all feels rather… nice. And important. But nice. And guess what?
