CBS pulls “The McCarthys” starring Tyler Ritter from its schedule – show not officially canceled

This is a pity because I really liked this show.
The Wrap reports that CBS has pulled the comedy
The McCarthys from its schedule with four new episodes not yet aired.
The show is being replaced on Thursday nights by reruns of The Big Bang Theory.
On
The McCarthys, Tyler Ritter plays an openly gay man who is part of a boisterous and sports-loving Irish-Catholic Boston family. It is based on the real-life experiences of show creator
Brian Gallivan. The character of Tommy is a high school counselor who faithfully watches
The Good Wife each week with his mother (played by
Laurie Metcalf) and also works as his high school basketball coach father’s assistant coach.
Although from a famous acting family (Tex Ritter is his grandfather, John Ritter his dad and Jason Ritter his brother), Tyler Ritter was an unknown until the series.
After college, he moved to Argentina where he spent three years as a teacher before returning to LA to pursue acting.
‘I think there was a little piece of me just as a young man who wanted to blaze my own path,’
he told me last fall. ‘I kind of felt like the avenue was somewhat crowded.’
But his talent is undeniable and he is already such a welcome addition to the acting world.
