Catching up w/Tuc Watkins

It Was so great to see Tuc Watkins earler this week at the Rachel York’s Cabaret show at The Magic Castle in Hollywood (That’s Tuc, pictured with Rachel and his Desperate Housewives boss Marc Cherry). He’s one of my favorite actors since his days as gay television executive Malcolm on Showtime’s late, great series Beggars and Choosers and now can be seen as Bob Hunter on Housewives and as the wickedly funny David Vickers on One Life to Live.

He has played the role of David for more than a decade and is so good and so popular with fans, that he’s been able to come and go between projects. He gets to show what terrific comic timing he has and, just as nice, he gets to show viewers what a great body he has! David just always seems to be shirtless!
I wondered when he would next appear on the soap.
“I think there will be shows that will air over a couple of months that start airing August 1o but we’re wrapping those up now because Desperate Housewives is starting back up,” he said. “I’m back on Wisteria Lane but I don’t know what our storyline is going to be. It’ll be fun.”

Tuc and Kevin Rahm play Lee and Bob, the only gay couple on Wisteria Lane. They are very funny together and I hope we’ll see a lot of them this season!
I also was happy to have the chance to tell Tuc how much I enjoyed his recent online spoof called The Sentimentalist. this brilliant spoof of CBS’ The Mentalist for the terrific Funny or Die site. In these three minutes or so, we see what Tuc can do, something we don’t get to see enough on Desperate Housewives. A hot dude who is also so deadpan funny is a real rarity!
Tuc said he and a friend wrote it in about a day and a half and it was shot in about a day. I love to see how artists can be so creative on the Internet and let us see things that the networks or movie studios don’t think to let them do.
Here is the video. I personally think Tuc should have the lead in his own series.

Mike Andrews says:
Previously on OLTL, Tuc Watkins had quite a funny storyline. He was into the zen. Not at all concerned about getting millions of dollars away from the Buchanan family. Of course, that all changed when Dorian played him.
They didn’t develop his relationship with Bo Buchanan. He was named as David’s father and a stretch if you ask me.
