Catching up with Jensen Atwood on his birthday!

Jensen Atwood is not only one of the best looking actors in Hollywood, he’s also one of the nicest.

So I hope the man best known for his role of sexy Wade Robinson on the Noah’s Arc television series and feature film is having a wonderful birthday today. Jensen also played Griffin during the third season of Dante’s Cove.

While a fourth season of Dante’s was announced last year, no further details have emerged and production never began. As for more Noah’s Arc stories, Jensen would jump at the chance.

“Noah’s Arc seems to never die,” he told me recently. “Every year there seems to be new life to breathe back into it. They’ve been playing the reruns on Logo and they just played the movie for the first time on television. It’s still alive and kicking.”

Whatever happens with Noah’s or Dante’s, Jensen is keeping busy. He currently appears in a commercial for Coors Light that is airing nationally, he appears in the Toni Braxton video Hands Tied and his 2011 calendar is out now on JensenAtwood.com. It’s called Jensen Atwood on Black (2009 was Jensen Atwood on White)

“We skipped 2010, maybe we’ll do it every other year,” he said, laughing. “It depends on how the demand goes. This time around, [the calendar] is a lot more me. I was a producer on it so most of the decisions that needed to be made were mine. You’ll get a little more personal Jensen.”

http://rodonline.typepad.com/rodonline/images/2007/10/19/2007_10_19_jensen_atwood_dante.jpgJensen is a straight actor who has had his greatest exposure in a gay role. So I wondered what he thought of the infamous Newsweek article from earlier this summer that maintained that openly gay actors were unable to convincingly play straight roles.

“That’s ridiculous,” he said. “As actors, we’re all individuals and we play characters, we play roles and hopefully we’re convincing in doing that. If you’re entertained, if you’re moved and feel things you weren’t expecting to feel, the actor’s doing his job, he’s telling a story. Who cares what his sexual orientation is or what religion they are, any of those things. When an actor steps outside of himself, he’s doing his best work. As an artist and an actor, if you’re able to do that, do it.”

One Remark

  1. Jensen is not only incredibly hansome/ sexy/charming man he is also a fine actor. I’ve seen him on interviews and on YouTube and his humility and kindness is truley inspiring. As for what his orientation (sexually) it aint nobody’s biz but his.
