Catching up with busy (and single) Jason Stuart

Now that James Brown is no longer with us, I think you could probably call Jason Stuart the hardest working man in showbiz. And you could absolutely call him the hardest working out gay man in the biz. Whether it’s creating a television special, doing a part in a movie or performing his hilarious stand-up act, he’s always looking for the next gig.

He’s also great at self promotion which I can relate to! I asked Jason, who I ran into at an industry mixer at O Bar the other night, what he’s been up to. Here’s his plug-filled answer: “My DVD is out, Jason Stuart Making it to the Middle available on my Web site JasonStuart.com. And I just did the One Night Stand series on Logo and I play a priest in the movie Edgar Allen Poe’s The Pit and the Pendulum which comes out on May 1 on here! TV but if you live in LA it’ll be at the Regent Theatre. I play a very evil priest and I tie people to a chair. They made me look really old too. They make me look awful. It’s an exploitation horror film.”

“And,” Jason adds, “I’m doing another film, for straight people, where I play a cop!”

I don’t get the title of the cop film because Jason was already on to other gigs and I didn’t want to mess with his flow: “I’m headlining Cincinnati Gay Pride, I’m headlining Long Beach Gay Pride, I’m doing some colleges. Just trying to make a living. All the bits and pieces of everything I’m doing is on JasonStuart.com.”

Our conversation then veers over to gay marriage and Jason is thrilled that it became legal in Iowa and Vermont earlier this month joining Massachusetts and Connecticut: “I’m move to Connecticut but it’s so small,” Jason laments. “Do they have Jews there?”

He adds: “I’m so excited. The only problem is I don’t have a husband. Can you believe that no one’s in love with me? I can’t believe it. I’m almost dead and no one will be in love with me. I’m so close to dead.”
