Carrie Prejean cancels on “Larry King Live”

Just a few days after sitting next to Donald Trump and declaring that she was going to focus on her duties as Miss California, Carrie Prejean canceled a scheduled appearance Thursday night on CNN’s Larry King Live.

Apparently she was just too exhausted to keep the high-profile commitment.

The embattled beauty queen who has become famous for expressing anti-gay marriage views during last month’s Miss USA pageant pulled out at the last minute leaving Larry King to tell viewers: “Late this afternoon, she canceled her appearance” with no further explanation.

I was looking forward to seeing Prejean in this format with callers who I’m sure would have been impassioned on both sides of the gay marriage debate. It will be interesting to see if she tries to reschedule. King, no doubt, w0uld forgive and forget since it would probably generate big ratings.

Paula Shugart, the president of the Miss Universe Organization, told King that Prejean was simply exhausted from traveling too much in recent days. She was on the East Coast for a Tuesday morning press conference where Trump announced she would keep her crown despite having posed for topless photos. On Wednesday – her 22nd birthday – she appeared on both Fox and Friends and Good Morning America.

If you believe TMZ, Carrie was exhausted from celebrating her birthday in Atlanta Wednesday night and had booked a flight back to LA that had her in the air at the time she was to appear with King.

For someone who wants a career in television, this seems like bad form. But Carrie will no doubt miss this gig: on May 27, she is scheduled to be a one-day guest host on Fox and Friends. It’s no surprise she would want to return to that show were Wednesday morning, she and her parents appeared and the hosts were so supportive to the point of being nauseating!
