Carol Channing forced to cancel Sunday concert at UCLA

Carol Channing by you.

Showbiz trooper Carol Channing has gone on stage with broken limbs.

But the 88-year-old legendary star of such Broadway musicals as Hello Dolly! and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes has been forced to cancel what had been rumored to be her final major stage appearance.

Due to an illness in her immediate family, Miss Channing has pulled out of Sunday’s Carol Channing Presents Broadway Voices for Arts in Education which was scheduled for UCLA’s Royce Hall. Also to have been included on the bill Sam Harris, JoAnne Worley, Ilene Graff, Carole Cooke and several others.

The event will not take place at all without Miss Channing and is canceled.

It is possible that the event might be rescheduled at a later date but it is not yet known approximately when. Miss Channing made a wildly successful appearannce just last Sunday at the West Hollywood Book Fair promoting her new gospel CD.

God speed to Miss Channing and her family.
