Calling it ‘harmful’ to transgender people, GLAAD and HRC ratchet up pressure on ABC not to air “Work It”
It’s been said that any publicity is good publicity but I’m not so sure that’s the case with the growing controversy over the ABC sitcom Work It.
GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign have stepped-up pressure on the network to yank the sitcom about two men who decide to impersonate women to land jobs in pharmaceutical sales.
It is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 3. I’ve just posted a story on Gay Star News about the controversy and an ad the groups have placed in today’s Daily Variety.
Check it out!

JCW says:
Talk about a non-issue. In this day and age I suspect the majority of audience members know the difference between a transexual and the hundred-year-old “guy in a dress gag”. What’s next? Ban Some Like It Hot? Ban re-runs of Bosom Buddies? Perhaps we can retroactively demand an apology from Robin Williams for Mrs. Doubtfire and Julie Andrews for Victor Victoria.
It looks to be a very poor TV show based on an ancient joke that won’t last one season…. in no way do I feel it reflects on the transgender community and they’re giving it more attention than it deserves.

Apparently they’re too young to recall we all got through the show
Bosom Buddies in the 80s….
