Bruce Springsteen show anti-LGBT politicians in North Carolina who’s The Boss – cancels show
Rock and roll icon Bruce Springsteen has canceled a concert this weekend in North Carolina in protest of the state”s new anti-LGBTI law.
He has been scheduled to perform in Greensboro on Sunday but has decided taking a stand against bigotry outweighed disappointing his fans.
Springsteen is against HB2 which was quickly passed by the state legislature and signed into law by Governor Pat McCrory last month.
It bans all local LGBT rights ordinances in the state and was rushed into law to override an ordinance in Charlotte that would have allowed transgender people to use the bathroom of their gender identification.
‘The law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace,’ Springsteen said in a statement Friday.
‘No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden. To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress.’
Springsteen added: ‘I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters. … Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them.
‘It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards.’

THANK YOU BRUCE-I had tickets but standing up to prejudice and standing up for the LGBT community is so much more important.
Love you man.

I applaud his stance on this issue. However by doing this he may be hurting the very people he’s trying to help. For all he knows, the owner of the facility where this concert would have been held is dead set against this stupid law. The workers at the concert, many of who might be gay, lesbian, etc., are now out of a paycheck of which they could have used or donated a part of to fight against this law or are living paycheck to paycheck just to make ends meet. The mouth-breathing neanderthals who passed this law aren’t going to change their minds even if voted out of office. It may take a federal judge to overturn this law and then they’ll rant and scream about “activist judges” who subvert the will of the people…..but will praise him/her to the high heavens if he/she upholds the law.

@Yekimi-The concert was being held at The Coloseaum ergo I don’t think they have much to worry about the money. I live in GSO and I want more boycotts and financial hardship thrown at us because that’s the ONLY message Gov McAsshole and his posse of nut jobs understand. Money after all is their real
God.
These BS RFRA laws-ours went even further prohibiting any other city in NC passing LGBT protections or raising the minimum wage-will definitely be headed to court where IMHO it will end up at SCOTUS. And if Clinton or Sanders win we will control SCOTUS. Another reason to get out and VOTE!!
