Brokeback Mountain’s ‘I wish I knew how to quit you’ scene reenacted – make that over-reenacted – by seniors
It just became too much for Jack Twist in Brokeback Mountain.
Frustrated by the limitations of his twice yearly ‘fishing trips’ with his lover Ennis Del Mar, Jack finally spits out the words: ‘I wish I knew How to quit you.’
That scene has been reenacted – or should we say ‘over-reenacted’ by a pair of senior citizens in a video posted on YouTube Tuesday by Matthew Hoffman.
Hoffman is founder of Tuesdays With Matthew. a volunteer program for senior citizens that takes iconic scenes from famous movies and recreates them.
Hoffman hunts down the costumes and wigs and uses green screen for background.
The actors seem to have learned their lines but the line readings don’t even attempt to match those of Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger who both earned Academy Award nominations for their performances in the 2005 film.
Any money made from the views of the video is donated to Hoffman’s local senior center and to Meals On Wheels – an organization that helps feed seniors in need.
