Broadway legend Carol Channing turns 90 today!
Betty White is getting all kinds of kudos for being such a huge star at 89. So how about some love for an even older star who is still going strong and who is even older than Betty?
Broadway legend Carol Channing, star of Hello Dolly! and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on stage and Thoroughly Modern Millie on film, turns 90 years old today!
I’m glad she’s still in good health and busy performing, releasing CDs and working tirelessly for increased funding for the arts in public schools because this means she is the perfect performer to receive the Kennedy Center Honors next year.
Miss Channing participated in the program last November honoring composer Jerry Herman and performed alongside fellow Broadway star Chita Rivera who got her due a few years back. It is well past Miss Channing’s turn!
Whatever happens, I hope she is having a wonderful birthday with the love of her life, Harry Kullijian, her husband since 2003. They had been junior high sweethearts who found their way back to each other nearly a decade ago.

Lloyd Parsons says:
Have always adored her since I saw her in “Gentlemen Prefer Blonds at the Ziegfield Theatre in 1952. I’d give anything to hear her perform that again. No one like Carol. I met her once in cleveland, and she was charming a gracious to me.
