Bristol Palin slams Obama on gay marriage
Remember Bristol Palin?
Well, the daughter of 2008 Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has some things today about Barack Obama’s endorsement of gay marriage.
Obama mentioned his daughters Sasha and Malia who have friends whose parents are gay and how it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently.
“It doesn’t make sense to them and frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective,” the president said.
This was just too much for Bristol, best known for her stint on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.
“While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads,” Palin said in a blog post. “…It would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that — as great as her friends may be — we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.”
It’s stunning that she would use the mother/father argument when she herself is a single mother but there you have it.

1. The idea that because marriage has been between a man and a woman for thousands of years we shouldn’t change it is ludicrous. Using that logic then one can argue that interracial marriage should not be allowed, women should not be allowed to vote or own property or be equal citizens under the law and slavery can continue unhindered because it has been in human history for thousands of years. What a baseless, ignorant argument!
2. Show us the studies that say children grow up better in a mother/father home? What children need for proper development is love and sometimes tough love, food on the table and a stable, nurturing environment. It has no bearing on the genitals of the parents nor the supposed superior combination of one vagina and one penis. I have yet to read in the news about a victim of child abuse or neglect from same-sex parents.
3. Instead of being the spokesperson for teenage pregnancy prevention, Bristol should be the poster girl for why abstinence-only programs NEVER work.
4. What scholarly qualifications does Bristol have to make such claims? In the Internet era, anyone can have a platform to disseminate ideas or personal opinions but why do we perpetuate anachronistic opinions from unqualified individuals whose only claim to fame was becoming a teenage pregnancy statistic!

Let’s not pretend that this is about civil rights. We don’t even really know if he actually believes in gay marriage. I doubt he does. Election Day is 6 months out, and now that he’s locked the female vote (birth control mandate), the student vote (student loan interest rates), the poor vote (let’s make the rich pay their fair share), it was time to get the gays. Forget that the birth control thing was just another costly mandate to pi$$ off and step on the evil Catholic church over a few dollars a month out of pocket. Student loan interest rates? Just an average of about 10 bucks a month or 100 bucks a year…1k over the life of the average loan. At what cost to our current gov’t financial system though? And the taxing the rich thing? Well, if that were done as he suggested, the amount collected would be less than 1% of debt and spending. All BS, and this is no different. More campaign funds from the homosexuals…
