Breakfast w/Greg: Remembering when Ted Kennedy electrified last year’s Democratic Convention
Good morning everyone.
No doubt you have been caught up in the coverage of the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy and probably gaining as real appreciation for all he was able to achieve in his more than four decades in the United States Senate.
It’s made me think back to a year ago when I was in Denver covering the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The experience was one of the highlights of my career and one of the highlights for everyone the dramatic appearance of Kennedy who was the recuperating from recent brain surgery.
I had to watch from a nearby press tent so was not inside the arena during his speech, but I caught the reactions of people who were leaving after his speech. They were deeply moved and inspired.
Now that Kennedy has died, I’ve discovered an entire YouTube channel devoted to him and want to share a couple of the videos from last summer’s convention. First is a wonderful film that was shown before Kennedy appeared and the second is of him being introduced by his niece, Caroline Kennedy.
