Breakfast w/Greg: Death Among Friends premieres tonight; Movie musical remakes; Nicholas Rodriguez speaks!

Thank God it’s Friday! I’m headed to The OC for the weekend after a grueling week in LA.

Hope wherever you are that you have a fun weekend planned! Here are some end-of-the-week items:

NOW PLAYING: Congrats to director Ron Oliver – a faithful Greg In Hollywood reader! – on the premiere tonight of his film Death Among Friends which I saw last spring and really enjoyed.

The thriller stars the handsome David Millbern who gives a terrific performance – totally evil! I sat behind him at the screening and kept thinking, “How could nice David in front of me be so deliciously mean on screen?” I know, it’s called acting!

I won’t give away all of his many sins in this flick but my favorite one was when he unexpectedly plunges a carving knife through a guy’s hand as it was resting on a kitchen counter top. It’s my favorite moment!

Also in the cast is Nicholle Tom, William B. Davis and the great Margot Kidder who was also in On the Other Hand Death, one of the sensational A Donald Strachey Mystery movies that star Chad Allen and that Ron directs.

Nicholle plays a woman who returns home from overseas to find her life has been turned upside down by the mysterious death of her brother. As she and her friends gather to mourn their loss, an assassin (Millburn) enters the house and terrorizes them.

The assassin tells Romy and her guests that Edwin had emailed one of the guests prior to his untimely death. He knows that the email implicates Nortac, Edwin’s former employer, in the death of thousands brought on by its global offshore drilling operations. He must find the email, protect the cover up and kill anyone who might know the truth.

Yikes!

The film is airing on Here TV (Click HERE for more information).

http://uzzytm.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/dirty-dancing2.jpgNEXT MUSICAL REMAKE? Don’t you just love that movie musicals are being made again? When Moulin Rouge came out, it was such a rare treat.

Since then, we’ve had Chicago, Dreamgirls, Mamma Mia, Hairspray and, of course, the High School Musical franchise. In production right now is Nine being directed by Rob Marshall and a new Footloose is in the works starring Chace Crawford.

Today, the remake of Fame hits theaters and this led MovieTickets.com to ask movegoers which classic dance film they would most like to see remade next. The winner: Dirty Dancing!

I think it probably has everything to do with the recent death of Patrick Swayze which is why I don’t think they would ever be able to do it justice. But, you necer know.

Here are the results of the poll: 1. Dirty Dancing (53%) 2. Saturday Night Fever (22%) 3. Flashdance (15%) 4. All That Jazz (6%) 5. Staying Alive (4%).

Excuse me? Staying Alive? You gotta be kidding!

MORE LIFE: And finally, I have a One Life to Live item for you. I know, the blog has been real heavy on OLTL items lately and that’s because the show deserves all of the attention that comes its way for having the best LGBT storyline in the history of daytime soaps.

Nicolas Rodriguez is a part of that storyline as Nick, Kyle’s new boyfriend who has to compete with Kyle’s still very real feelings for Oliver Fish. The fabulous site We Love Soaps talked to the hunky Rodriguez who is a stage veteran and also has a role in the upcoming Sex and the City sequel.
