Breakfast w/Greg: A very special weekend with my new godson Tyler Patrick Carpenter

This child is so amazing and it warms me to the core to have this special role in his life. Regular readers of this site know that we lost Walt nearly two months ago. He was one of the best friends I’ve ever had or ever will have. We met 25 years ago this month and our bond was instant and lasting.

I loved him dearly.

His passing has been impoassible but to have this wonderful child, his son, to celebrate and love makes it somehow more bearable.

I wore Walt’s red tie to the occasion and felt his presence strongly the entire weekend. I look forward to sharing with Tyler the many adventures his daddy and I had from the early days in the college dorms at San Diego State University to our decades-long ping pong rivalry to the day Walt married Tyler’s mommy Kim.
