Boy George not sure if he’s in demand in Indiana but he wouldn’t boycott the state
Don’t expect Boy George to refuse to perform in Indiana because of that state’s controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
‘I always feel like it’s important to bring your music to the people that love you,’ he tells Larry King in an interview to air this week.
”So if you’re depriving little gay boys and girls of Indiana of your music then that’s probably not a good thing to do.’
Indiana faced a firestorm of backlash for passing a law that opened the door for private businesses to turn away gay and lesbians customers if they claimed religious reasons.
Last week, lawmakers reacted to the protests by narrowing the law down to reflect federal law and lessens the potential for such discrimination.
‘It’s kind of old fashioned,’ George said of the Indiana law. ‘It’s like, move on. It’s crazy.’
The Culture Club frontman, openly gay since the band’s 1980s heyday, isn’t sure there’s much demand for him to perform in Indiana anyway but doesn’t want to be closed off from it.
‘I’d do a little research first to see if Indiana wants me there.’

I doesn’t need to as the law anti-gay measures backtracked with the “RFRA fix” signed by Indiana’s governor but nevertheless he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed ever and had more problems in his life (including jail time) that makes him a difficult role model “for little gay boys and girls of Indiana”, though I would lie if I say what his current music is about. But anyways, I doubt he is thinking on them for his decision. But I guess he will prove me wrong by showing his support for Indiana’s gay community beyond words. Words are easy to say.
