Billie Jean King remembers her late brother, MLB pitcher Randy Moffitt, on anniversary of his passing

What are the odds of any family having a successful professional athlete in it? Slim. What about having TWO? That was the case with the Moffits of Long Beach, CA.

Big sister Billie Jean Moffitt went on to become the number one tennis player in the world and a leader on and off the court. Billie Jean King is a legend in the battle for equality and the most beloved and universally respected and appreciated sports icons of all time.

Little brother Randy Moffitt, who died a year ago today, was Major League Baseball relief pitcher from 1972-83 playing for the San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays.

On the anniversary of his passing at the age of 76, Randy’s big sis wrote this tribute on social media:

Not a day goes by when I don’t replay a memory from our shared childhood. We were so very lucky to have two parents that supported both of us in our pursuits to become professional athletes.

Not a day goes by when I don’t remember something we laughed about together, or a memory we shared.

But most of all, not a day goes by when I don’t think about how truly lucky I was to have a brother. He was my dream come true on the day he was born.

A year has passed, and I carry Randy with me every single day.
